New Year’s Day on Popham Beach

We like to start every new year with a hike on the beach. Some years I get to take my shoes off and walk on the sand barefoot and other years I’m loaded down with scarves, mittens, hat and heavy coat. This year was halfway between - a little too cold for bare feet but not so cold that we walk for ten minutes and call it quits! We were on Popham Beach for about an hour and a half this year. Lots of horses were just coming off the beach when we arrived. Still, there were probably a hundred people milling about as the tide came in. No better way to start the new year than with a walk on the beach.
